Announcing “W I S P” , our new “Wind In Schools Program”Michigan Wind Power is introducing a new “Wind in Schools Program” for schools across the state of Michigan. The Skystream 3.7 is the perfect choice for those schools and educational facilities that are looking at going Green. These wind units are simple enough for a Building Trades Class to install and will produce 200-700Kwh per unit a month for a school, depending on the wind, (some schools may want more units for more power, these are modular). There are six pages of streaming data coming from the units computerized interface program. This technology would give several classes real time information to work with, relative to their studies. Science, Math, Geography and Technology classes could all benefit from classroom manipulation of this data. Students could visualize their own shrinking carbon footprint, while monitoring the savings of the renewable power generated into their school.
WISP is Michigan Wind Power's effort to bring renewable energy and our environment into the educational community and bring awareness of production, consumption and conservation of electrical power to the schools and their students with this program. One of these units (Kit=$12,000 w/45' tower) can be installed in as little as 6 hours once the foundation and elec. are in. ($1,000-$5,000) MWP also supplies plans for the electrical hook-up along with foundation drawings and will provide training.
Anyone that has an interest in "WISP" please call 231-645-4479 or e-mail garth@michiganwindpower.net and we'll line up a site assessment for your school. We only charge $75 for the site assessment, which is refunded if you buy a unit from us.
For independent wind testing and data logging of sites that require specific height testing, contact Tom at http://northwindmeasurement.com He can set you up with an affordable accurate and independent wind site assessment.

WHY the SKYSTREAM 3.7 ?
There is a new push by the general public to integrate renewable energy solutions into their everyday lives and properties. Many of the rules that govern the height and operation of wind units was last looked at in the 70’s, when we were standing in line for gas the last time. There are currently several “proactive” townships looking into adjusting their zoning of residential wind technology. In the past year or so the technology has developed smaller, more efficient turbines that harvest the turbulent winds closer to the ground, 35’– 60’ high. These are “Plug & Play” units that wire right into the breaker panel of the home or office without batteries or external inverters much like an appliance such as a clothes dryer.
The Skystream 3.7 is a UL approved, 1741 compliant, IEEE 1547 certified, radio controlled household power appliance. It was designed to reduce power needed at it’s site. These units are modular in the respect that they can be “ganged” to increase the power output in a specific area. We can even mount 3 on separate towers within 30 feet of one another at different heights, (33’,45’&57’) for maximum site harvesting. Just one will offset most power needed for a home or office, and six units will offset the power of the area vineyard. These units blend seamlessly with your utility power. When the blades are turning, that’s that much power you are not buying from the power company. Any extra power is Net Metered, which means that you will receive credit for unused power on the next month’s bill. The only thing the owner experiences is a lower or no monthly electric bill. All this taking place under 60’ on the property where the power is being used.
The cost of wind units in this production range in the past were from $40,000-$60,000 with batteries and inverters hanging on your walls. With this new technology in power management, we can give you a unit that will produce from 200 – 700Kwh a month (depending on the wind) for $12,500 - $15,000 up and running with no batteries. A homeowner can put in one of our do-it-yourself kits for about $12,500. Kit comes with foundation and elec. hook-up drawings for local inspectors. Most installs require Building and Elec. permits. (wires into the panel like a 240V dryer) Michigan Wind Power strives to supply its customers with the latest in renewable energy technology. We are also offering a ZONING DRAFT to help townships bring their zoning in line with current technology and give their residents the opportunity to take advantage of this affordable, renewable resource, THE WIND.
